Kayak Pittsburgh is a project of Venture Outdoors.
Kayaks:
The kayaks that are available are flat-water kayaks – they are longer and more stable than the whitewater kayaks that most people think of. We like to describe the flat-water kayaks as similar to canoes but easier to steer.
Kayaking is easy to learn and is great for beginners. No experience is necessary and most folks learn how to manage a kayak in 10 to 15 minutes.
Procedures:
All participants will be given basic safety and paddling instruction and need to wear a PFD (life jacket) while in the boat. Additionally, everyone needs to sign a risk acknowledgment form and minors under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the risk form.
Download the risk waiver.
Kayak Pittsburgh requires a driver’s license to be held as a deposit while you are on the water.
Bike Rentals:
Golden Triangle Bike Rental and Kayak Pittsburgh are partnering to offer bike rentals on Pittsburgh’s North Shore! This summer Hybrid bikes, children’s bikes, child trailers and tag-a-longs will be available for hourly and daily rental from Kayak Pittsburgh Downtown.
Kayak Pittsburgh Downtown is an excellent place to begin your adventure of exploring Pittsburgh’s bike trails. Weave through the historic Southside, Northside and Downtown neighborhoods. Visit Point State Park, Washington’s Landing, Heinz Field and PNC Park. Lock up the bike and enjoy outdoor dining, refreshments or shopping… all of this, right on the bike trails! All rentals come with our self-guided tour map, helmet and lock.
